Viktorija Butautis
Viktorija Butautis (Monkey’s Tales) is a Lithuanian-born artist whose practice is rooted in storytelling, imagination, and emotional warmth. Working across illustration and fine art print, she creates narrative-driven works populated by animals that act as symbolic protagonists. These characters move through imagined worlds that are gentle, humorous, and quietly reflective, offering viewers moments of comfort, joy, and recognition.
At the heart of Viktorija’s work is a belief in kindness as a creative force. Her imagery is intentionally optimistic, designed to evoke happy, cheerful, and uplifting emotions without becoming superficial. Animals appear not as decorative motifs but as carriers of feeling, embodying care, curiosity, protection, and companionship. Through this softened lens, her works speak across generations, resonating with both children and adults through shared emotional language.
Viktorija works primarily with giclée prints on archival canvas, presenting her pieces as ready-to-hang artworks that balance accessibility with material integrity. The tactile quality of canvas supports the warmth of her visual language, reinforcing the sense that these works are meant to live in everyday spaces rather than remain distant or untouchable. Many pieces are accompanied by short written narratives or “mini fairy tales,” extending the story beyond the image and inviting viewers to engage imaginatively and personally.
