Amy Dart

Amy Dart is a Melbourne-based artist, originally from Tasmania, whose work seamlessly intertwines the natural world with themes of life, death, and the surreal. With a background in botanical studies and a lifelong passion for collecting natural treasures, Amy transforms elements of nature—flowers, skulls, leaves, insects, shells, and crystals—into intricate, symbolic compositions. Her work captures the delicate balance between the macabre and the beautiful, the abstract and the literal, celebrating the wild and the weird.

Graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the University of Tasmania in 2013, Amy's early inspirations stemmed from the raw beauty of Tasmania’s landscapes. Since relocating to Naarm/Melbourne in 2017, her artistic practice has evolved to reflect her explorations of Victoria’s diverse environments. Using circular boards as canvases, Amy creates visual portals that invite viewers into imagined realms where nature and memory converge. Abstract backgrounds infused with emotive colour enhance the nostalgia and wonder embedded in her collected treasures, offering a sense of connection to the landscapes they originate from.

Amy’s work invites viewers to find joy in the intimate stories held within nature’s keepsakes, encouraging a deeper appreciation for the world around us. She has previously exhibited at @14 Gallery in Collingwood.
