About the Artist
Annemarie’s work is grounded in the process of preservation, where transformation becomes a quiet act of attention rather than loss. As botanicals move from vitality to stillness, form gives way to structure, negative space, and rhythm, revealing new meanings over time. Guided by symbolism rather than spectacle, her practice engages with life’s thresholds, moments of union, remembrance, and return, creating works that hold personal and cultural resonance.
About the Artwork
Salytis represents the physical "contact" between my two worlds. The "close" proximity of the cold -toned silver bush and the fiery Australian red represents the two halves of your identity finally meeting in one circle. The visual of the silver cushion bush is very similar to the "bleached" or "winter" landscapes of the Baltics, while the red Kangaroo Paw is uniquely Australian.
