About the Artist:
Sarah Park’s practice centres on contemporary realism, using precise observation, velvety colour transitions and controlled light to illuminate fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. Her work carries a strong corporeal presence, with textures, shadows and tiny shifts in tone bring each subject into intimate focus. Trained at UNSW COFA with a Bachelor's, Master’s by Coursework and a Master of Fine Art by Research, she has been widely recognised through awards, publications and numerous art prize selections. Her paintings invite viewers into deeply considered scenes where detail, emotion and atmosphere construct narrative without a single word.
About the Artwork:
’Summertime Serenity’ is a captivating addition to my exploration of light, shadow, and corporeal observation, seamlessly woven into a series of paintings that unite figurative elements with the graceful presence of a handheld fan. This work beckons viewers into a realm where curiosity is awakened by the intricate interplay of light and shadow, inviting them to peer deeper into the artful composition.
Central to my artistic vision is a celebration of unfiltered, unapologetic femininity, underpinned by a profound exploration of the multifaceted facets of 'womanhood' through a lens of authenticity and honesty. In ‘Summertime Serenity’, Sarah invites you to revel in the sheer joy of existence, free from the constraints of societal agendas and preconceived notions. It's an invitation to embrace the often-overlooked details and fleeting moments that hold a profound beauty of their own.
This painting serves as a jubilant ode to the comforts of summer's warmth and the pure contentment it brings, fostering an atmosphere of serenity that transports viewers to a place of tranquil delight.
