About the Artist
With a background in liberal arts and a Bachelor’s Degree in Photography from Webster University, Vermilye combines technical understanding with an experimental approach to digital image making. He creates all his work on a smartphone, capturing scenes, manipulating forms, and reconstructing meaning through mobile editing. Techniques such as flipping, symmetry and repetition often produce fractal-like compositions and dreamlike geometries. This approach forms the foundation of psychodynamic photography, a method that encourages a personal connection between artist, image and viewer. His work has been shown internationally in Geneva, London, Seoul and New York, as well as online in Metaverse exhibitions.
About the Artwork
The composition depicts an abstract and poetic representation of a heartbeat. To create this piece, the artist used the results of an echocardiogram, which he manipulated in post-processing software. Using a black background and layered yellow lines generates a sense of depth. The Synth Heartbeat piece is a visual poem that invites the viewer to reflect on the beautiful space of immaterial geometry.
